May 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey partners recently took leadership roles in key industry forums that are exploring how law firms can deliver value for money to clients through alternative fee arrangements and enhanced project management – Peter Chaffetz as Co-Chair of the IBA’s Annual Litigation Forum and Charles Scibetta as Co-Chair of ACI’s Reinsurance Disputes conference, both in New York.

Being in a position to offer our clients more competitive terms was one of the principal motivations for establishing our firm. April 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey partner James Hosking spoke at the Seventh Annual Fordham Law School Conference on International Arbitration and Mediation held at King’s College in London. James discussed recent developments in enforcing arbitration awards in the Asia Pacific, focusing on a recent Hong Kong Court of Appeal case that took an unusual approach to what constitutes grounds to refuse enforcement on the basis of a violation of “public policy”. Chaffetz Lindsey Backs Winning Harvard Arbitration Moot Team

April 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey has continued its longstanding support of the world’s largest international arbitration mooting competition. This year’s Willem C. Vis Moot Competition involved a record 285 law schools participating in the oral argument rounds held in Vienna. Chaffetz Lindsey partner James Hosking was co-coach of the Harvard Law School team that claimed the 1st equal prize for its Claimant’s memorial and 3rd equal prize for oral argument. Harvard also fielded a team in the Vis East competition held in Hong Kong, emerging 8th out of more than 90 schools. Click here to read more about the team’s success.

James Hosking Participates in Diversity Initiative

April 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey partner James Hosking presented at the American Arbitration Association’s 2012 A. Leon Higginbotham Jr. Fellows Program. The week-long program was set up to provide training, mentoring and networking opportunities to diverse up and coming ADR professionals. April 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey Counsel, Yasmine Lahlou, chairs an extremely topical and current panel at the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law Spring Meeting in New York on The Arab Spring and Constitutional Reforms: From Aspiration to Reality. The panel, which took place on April 20, comprised a highly esteemed and influential group of specialists on Middle Eastern affairs, including Excellency Mohammed Loulichki, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. John Beasley, Rule of Law Advisor, Office of Middle East Transitions at the State Department, Mr. Mark Morgan of the Egyptian American Rule of Law Association, Professor Ozan Ergun from the TOBB University of Economics and Technology’s School of Law in Ankara, Turkey, and Nadia Assouli from the United Nations’ Department of Peacekeeping Operations who has just returned from a mission in Libya.

Yasmine, an American, Moroccan and French citizen, organized the panel in her role as Co-Chair of the Middle East Committee of the ABA Section of International Law. Yasmine specializes in international arbitration and litigation and public international law.

It describes how smaller firms have become a permanent fixture of the legal landscape by successfully addressing client needs through greater transparency and flexibility. The article refers to Chaffetz Lindsey as an example of such a firm.
