Our Practice Principles

We follow four main principles when we handle your case:

We are commercial.
To maximize your chances of winning, we make sure to understand the transaction in dispute as deeply as the business people who structured it, and we address our analysis and advocacy skills to the commercial context of each case.

We are collaborative.
At the start of each engagement, we work closely with you to establish a case strategy, team, work plan, and budget.  As the case develops, we communicate with you regularly.  We will schedule periodic meetings, phone conferences, and/or written status reports to meet your needs.  We ensure that you understand how your case is developing and that you have sufficient input in how it progresses.  While no one can completely eliminate the unexpected from litigation, our collaborative approach minimizes surprise concerning your results and your costs.

We are credible.
No one fights harder than we do.  But we always maintain our credibility and yours.  We avoid over-the-top rhetoric, weak arguments, and tangential procedural issues to avoid distracting from your best arguments.  We are even-tempered, concise, and honest in our arguments and submissions.

We are efficient.
We staff cases leanly and always directly involve a partner to approve and streamline each step of the process.  We value brainstorming and team planning sessions, but we limit participation in those activities and control the schedule.  We do not overstaff meetings, depositions, or hearings.  We outsource appropriate tasks to minimize your costs.
