Ted DeBonis joined Chaffetz Lindsey in April 2010.  He was previously a litigation associate for more than five years at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.  Ted has experience representing clients in a broad range of complex litigation and arbitration matters, including insurance and reinsurance arbitration and mediation, securities litigation, and international commercial arbitration.  He has represented banks, fund companies, insurers and reinsurers, multinational corporations, and individuals.  While at Simpson Thacher, Ted spent several years litigating, arbitrating, and mediating issues arising out of the September 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.  He represented a large domestic insurance company on issues related to Hurricane Katrina and a U.S. multinational in investment treaty arbitration related to the Dabhol Power Project in India.

Prior to commencing his legal career, Ted worked in the financial industry as an equities and derivatives trader.  Ted is a graduate of Columbia University and St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an Articles and Notes Editor on the St. John’s Law Review.  He is admitted to practice in New York.
