Yasmine Lahlou Authors “How Courts Treat Foreign Award Judgments: The Unsettled State of US Law & an English Perspective” for IBA’s Dispute Resolution International

March 2019 – Yasmine Lahlou’s article on “How Courts Treat Foreign Award Judgments: The Unsettled State of US Law and an English Perspective” was recently published in IBA’s Dispute Resolution International, Volume 12, Number 2.

In the article, Yasmine provides guidance to litigants and examines how courts in the United States asked to recognize and enforce a foreign award treat prior foreign judgments from parallel and overlapping proceedings. The article also analyzes how the US position compares with that of the English courts’ approach and discusses how these approaches fit within the broader res judicata and issue estoppel framework.

IBA’s Dispute Resolution International provides in-depth discussion of current developments and topical issues in all areas of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, mediation and other areas of alternative dispute resolution, as well as negligence and damages.
