Alina Aguilar Wins 2026 Young ITA Writing Competition and Award

Where Advocacy Meets Business

May 2026– Chaffetz Lindsey’s Alina Aguilar has been named the winner of the 2026 Young ITA Writing Competition and Award, “New Voices in International Arbitration.”

Alina’s paper, “Do Courts Go Too Far – Or Not Far Enough? Contractual Modification of Judicial Review and its Limits in International Arbitration,”  examines whether parties in international arbitration should be permitted to contractually expand, waive, or reduce judicial review of arbitral awards. Drawing from recent arbitral awards and court decisions across different jurisdictions, it explores the competing arguments both in favor of and against allowing parties greater flexibility over the scope of judicial review.

The piece was selected by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Victoria Sahani, Kabir Duggal, and Maria Chiara Malaguti.

The Young ITA Writing Competition and Award recognizes outstanding scholarship in international arbitration by young practitioners, academics, and students from around the world. Alina will receive the award at the ITA Workshop and Annual Meeting 2026, where it will be presented during the ITA Advisory Board Annual Dinner. Her paper will also be published in ITA in Review.
