Chaffetz Lindsey Holds Reception to Launch “International Commercial Arbitration in New York”

Where Advocacy Meets Business

May 2010 — On May 13, 2010, Chaffetz Lindsey hosted a reception for more than 130 leading figures in the New York arbitration community. The reception celebrated the launch of the long-awaited text International Commercial Arbitration in New York, edited by Jim Carter of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and John Fellas of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP.

The book covers a wide range of issues from applicable law, obtaining preliminary relief, enforcing arbitration agreements and discovery to enforcing awards. Twenty-six leading arbitration practitioners and academics in New York authored the books individual chapters. Jim Carter and John Fellas were the editors-in-chief and leaders of the overall project. Other contributors included David Rivkin of Debevoise & Plimpton, Paul Friedland of White & Case, Professor George Bermann of Columbia University School of Law and Rob Smit of Simpson Thacher. New York arbitration deans Jerry Aksen and Bob von Mehren, who also attended the reception, wrote the forewords. Chaffetz Lindsey partner David Lindsey and associate Yasmine Lahlou co-authored the first chapter of the book, addressing the law applicable to international arbitration in New York.

International Commercial Arbitration in New York is available through its publisher, Oxford University Press. Click here for more information about International Commercial Arbitration in New York and here for the Global Arbitration Review’s article featuring the book launch reception.
