Chaffetz Lindsey Named International Arbitration “Small Firm of the Year”

March 2011 – Chaffetz Lindsey has been named small firm of the year by the Global Arbitration Review. The prestigious award was presented on March 3, 2011 at the annual GAR awards dinner in Seoul, Korea. Partner James Hosking, who leads the international arbitration practice with David Lindsey, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

Shortlists for the Global Arbitration Review “Small Firm of the Year” award were generated by a focus group that included GAR’s editorial board. Final decisions were made on the basis of peer reviews and anonymous assessments from panels of prominent international arbitrators. The “Small Firm of the Year” award was announced as the GAR’s list of the top 100 international arbitration practices – including Chaffetz Lindsey – was released. The GAR 100 noted that Chaffetz Lindsey has the client list “of a major firm.”

Mr. Lindsey responded to the award by noting that “our success so far would not have been possible without the support of our friends in the international arbitration community.” He pointed to the fact that the firm has enjoyed referrals and co-counsel instructions from firms around the globe. The Chaffetz Lindsey arbitration team has handled cases in all the world’s major arbitration fora, involving disputes over infrastructure projects, engineering/construction claims, oil and gas ventures, pharmaceutical licensing, M&A deals, JVs, environmental contamination, complex commercial contracts and investment treaty claims for and against states.

Since its inception in May 2009, Chaffetz Lindsey has been instructed in over 20 arbitration matters with an aggregate amount in dispute of approximately US$ 3 billion. While many of its arbitrations are in the US, the firm’s current arbitrations involve 15 jurisdictions throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. The disputes arise under the rules of the ICC, AAA/ICDR, SIAC, SCC, LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL.
