Chambers Latin America Recognizes Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration Practice

Where Advocacy Meets Business

August 2021 – The recently released Chambers & Partners 2022 Latin America ranking once again lists and commends only one boutique for international arbitration:  Chaffetz Lindsey. Chaffetz Lindsey’s “esteemed international arbitration outfit” – says the 2022 Latin America: International Arbitration in International Counsel – “offers valued expertise in Latin American mandates” and is “in high demand among prominent international and regional corporate groups for its knowledge of commercial disputes, especially those arising out of infrastructure construction claims.” Chambers also notes that the firm is regularly sought after by corporate claimants engaging in investment treaty cases. Chaffetz Lindsey is the only boutique firm included in the rankings.

Clients highlight the firm’s “easy communication, attitude, proactivity, accuracy, agility, good performance and good business results.”

Chaffetz Lindsey is one of the few firms to feature four individually ranked attorneys – no firm has more than four ranked individuals. Chambers provided the following comments on our partners:

  • James Hosking is recognised by market commentators for his arbitration expertise, as one relates: “He is a strategic thinker who knows what he wants and how to get to that point, and has shown good skills in managing client expectations.” He is routinely sought out to assist with commercial and infrastructure construction disputes. He also advises investors on bilateral investment treaty cases.
  • Yasmine Lahlou continues to impress interviewees with her skills, as one attests: “She tries to see the strong and the weak points of the case and works very hard,” while also adding: “I think she is excellent.” She is adept at handling Brazilian commercial arbitrations arising out of joint operating agreement disputes and construction claims.
  • Founding partner David Lindsey benefits from a wealth of experience acting on Latin American arbitration cases before various arbitral panels, with a focus on matters involving Brazil. He possesses solid expertise advising oil and gas and construction companies on commercial disputes arising from joint operating agreements and EPC contracts.
  • Aníbal Martin Sabater is commended by market sources for being “pleasant, responsive and very meticulous in his work.” Another market onlooker considers him “very sharp and well prepared.” He is widely recognised for his impressive track record leading investment treaty arbitration cases. He benefits from further expertise in commercial disputes concerning financial and construction issues.
