April 2017 – David Lindsey, founding partner of Chaffetz Lindsey, recently spoke at the Amcham Brasil International Conference on Arbitration – “A Critical View of Arbitration.” The conference took place in São Paulo on April 3, 2017 and offered a debate on arbitration from the point of view of its users.
The panel, entitled “The practice of the arbitral tribunals concerning the breach of the non-compete clause,” addressed the enforceability and interpretation of such clauses. David was joined by Adriana Braghetta of L.O. Baptista Advogados, Maria do Céu Marques Rosado of MRTC Advogados, and Paula Forgioni of Forgioni Advigados. The panel was moderated by Pedro Maciel of Lefosse Advogados.
David represents plaintiff and defendant multinational companies in cross border disputes most often decided by international arbitration tribunals under the rules of the ICDR, the ICC, the LCIA, and other top international arbitral institutions. His clients are leaders in the power, oil and gas, engineering, manufacturing, automotive sales, franchising, licensing, and pharmaceutical industries, and David has represented them in proceedings in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. He also sits as an arbitrator in cases under the ICC, ICDR and UNCITRAL rules, both as chair, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator.
