Meredith Craven to Speak at 11th Annual Juris Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference

April 2017 – Associate Meredith Craven will be speaking at the Eleventh Annual Juris Conferences’ Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference on April 25, 2017 in Washington, D.C.  The conference will focus on the intersection of investor-state arbitration and the technology sector.

Meredith’s panel, entitled “IP and ‘investment’ under BITS,” will consider the Philip Morris cases against Uruguay and Australia and how “investment” is defined in current treaties and may be defined in future treaties.  Her co-panelists include Helene Gogadze of Fried Frank, Amal Bouchenaki of Herbert Smith Freehills, Maria Chedid of Baker McKenzie, Kabir Duggal of Baker & McKenzie, Joseph LoBue of Fried Frank, and Jennifer Haworth McCandless of Sidley Austin.  The panel will be moderated by Michael Nolan of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.

Meredith represents domestic and international clients in complex litigation and international arbitration matters. She has experience with commercial and investor-state disputes administered under the ICC, AAA/ICDR, HKIAC, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. She also has experience representing U.S. and foreign entities in disputes with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
