Grace’s practice focuses on international litigation and arbitration, with an emphasis on representing foreign sovereigns and state-owned entities. She frequently represents clients in appellate proceedings, including before the Second Circuit, Third Circuit, and D.C. Circuit.

Experience

Grace joined Chaffetz Lindsey after a clerkship with the Honorable Judge Aida Delgado-Colón in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Prior to clerking, Grace trained and worked at a leading international law firm in its New York and Paris offices. Grace began her legal career at the Clooney Foundation for Justice, advocating for clients under international human rights law.

  • A foreign sovereign in a D.C. Circuit appeal defending against jurisdiction under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
  • A foreign sovereign defending against arbitral award enforcements in the Southern District of New York and abroad.*
  • A foreign sovereign defending against asset attachment and turnover claims in the Southern District of New York, Second Circuit, District of D.C., and D.C. Circuit, and abroad.*
  • A foreign sovereign in a multi-billion-dollar ICC treaty arbitration over a dispute involving an oil and gas pipeline treaty.*
  • Securing a successful settlement for a pro bono client in connection with a civil rights litigation in the Southern District of New York against the NYPD for excessive use of force.*
  • Securing a favorable decision from the Second Circuit for a pro bono client in a Hague Convention appeal.*
