James Hosking Elected to the DIS German Arbitration Council

Where Advocacy Meets Business

March 2026– Chaffetz Lindsey’s James Hosking has been appointed as a member of the Arbitration Council of the German Arbitration Institute (DIS).

The German Arbitration Institute, or Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit (DIS), is one of Europe’s preeminent arbitration institutions.  The DIS administers arbitration proceedings, oversees its arbitration rules, supports the conduct of arbitration proceedings and generally promotes use of alternative dispute resolution.

The DIS Arbitration Council is an independent body within the DIS that ensures the quality and efficiency of arbitration proceedings. It  performs key administrative functions as provided in the DIS Arbitration Rules, such as appointing arbitrators, deciding on challenges to arbitrators, and ensuring quality of the DIS arbitration process.  The Council plays a central role in shaping institutional arbitration practice and governance in Germany.

The 18-member Council brings together senior practitioners and thought leaders from across the international arbitration community.
