Peter Chaffetz to Speak on Sovereign Enforcement Panel at FIRE International Vilamoura 2026

May 2026– Chaffetz Lindsey’s Peter Chaffetz will speak at the upcoming FIRE International Vilamoura 2026 as part of the panel discussion, “Enforcement Against Sovereigns and States,” on Wednesday, May 20^th.

The session will bring together leading international practitioners to examine some of the most pressing and complex issues in sovereign enforcement, including the recovery of debts owed by states, the tension between sovereign immunity and victims’ rights, enforcement strategies involving sovereign wealth funds, and efforts to trace and recover assets allegedly looted by political elites and concealed through sovereign structures. The panel will also address the practical and legal challenges of enforcing judgments and arbitral awards against sovereign entities across jurisdictions.

Peter will join a panel of international practitioners, moderated by Rick Brown (HFW), alongside Agis Georgiades (Christos Georgiades & Associates), Ardavan Amir-Aslani (Cohen Amir-Aslani), and Laure-Hélène Gaicio-Fievez (BSP).
