Anibal Sabater Nominated in GAR Awards 2015

February 2015 – Chaffetz Lindsey Partner Anibal Sabater has been short-listed for the 2015 GAR Awards in the Best Prepared/Most Responsive Arbitrator category. The winner will be announced at the 5th Annual GAR Awards ceremony in Washington, DC on February 25th. Aníbal has sat in over 25 multi-million dollar arbitrations to date, and he is frequently called to act as a neutral. Anibal joined Chaffetz Lindsey as a partner in January 2015 from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a partner in their Houston and New York offices. February 2014 – Chaffetz Lindsey has once again been recognized in the annual GAR 100. The GAR 100 is a guide to the international arbitration capabilities and experience of law firms around the world, and given the publication’s focus on practice in this area, it is considered to be one of the most imporant surveys of this market. Chaffetz Lindsey is proud to be recognized again in one of our core practice areas.

September 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s work in Latin America has been recognized once again in two leading industry guides – Chambers Latin America and Legal 500 Latin America. The firm’s partners have been active in the region for over two decades, representing clients based in the region and international clients investing there across a varety of disputes. One of the guides refers to David Lindsey as “one of the pioneers in Latin America, [who] always impresses”.

The commitment of the team is also highlighted in both guides, with clients commenting on their responsiveness, and the willingness to “go above and beyond to ensure timely, helpful service”. March 2012 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration team has been short-listed for this year’s Chambers USA Awards for Excellence in association with Lex Mundi. The awards, which will be announced on June 7, 2012, recognize outstanding firms on the basis of research carried out for Chambers USA 2012. These awards reflect a law firm’s pre-eminence based on key expertise and notable achievements in the last 12 months, including outstanding work, strategic growth and excellence in client service. December 2011 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s international arbitration practice continues to be recognized as “an established name on the Latin America scene”, according to the 2012 edition of Chambers Latin America: Latin America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

 

The newly-released guide identifies Chaffetz Lindsey as a leader in “Latin America-wide” international arbitration and also singles out partners David Lindsey and James Hosking for mention.  David has been ranked in the publication since its first edition.

 

The Chambers rankings are based on interviews with clients and other practitioners.  The 2012 edition notes that “dedication and focus are naturally considered strengths” of Chaffetz Lindsey “but clients also cite proactivity and efficiency as major draws.”

 

Chaffetz Lindsey lawyers have been involved in international arbitration cases involving Latin America clients for more than 23 years.  In the last year, Chaffetz Lindsey has handled eight international arbitrations involving Latin American clients.  It is also currently representing Latin American clients in several U.S. litigations.  See story here.

August 2011 – Associate Yasmine Lahlou, in her capacity as co-chair of the Middle East Committee of the ABA International Section, was awarded the ABA International Section 2011 Outstanding Policy Award for the Middle East Committee’s work on the Section’s Recommendation and Report on efforts by various states to adopt constitutional amendments or legislation intended to inhibit their courts’ ability to apply Sharia, foreign or international law.

August 2011 – Partner James Hosking was recently featured in Global Arbitration Review’s (“GAR”) 45 Under 45, a guide to the leading figures of the international arbitration bar under the age of 45.  James was selected for this honor from a pool of more than 150 candidates world-wide and is one of only ten US-based lawyers to be chosen.  James commented that the highlight of his career so far has been founding Chaffetz Lindsey, which has allowed him and the firm “to take the best aspects of ‘big firm’ practice and try to apply them to a new business.”  James’s advice to those considering a career in international arbitration is to “eat your vegetables, get a mentor, and don’t forget to learn the basics.”

February 2010 – Chaffetz Lindsey founding co-partner David Lindsey has continued his long tradition of being recognized as a “notable practitioner” by Chambers Global Leading Lawyers for Business.  Having founded Clifford Chance’s New York international arbitration team and overseen its development since 1999, David left in 2008 to set up Chaffetz Lindsey.  The latest version of the guide noted David’s new firm and went on to report that clients and peers said that he “stands out for the depth of his experience and his extremely supportive and client-friendly style.”  The breadth of David’s international arbitration practice is seen in his ranking in not only Chambers Global but also Chambers Latin America and Chambers USA.  For a link to Chambers Global click here.  For the Chambers profile of Chaffetz Lindsey go here.
