Peter Chaffetz to Speak at Fall ARIAS Conference

October 2009 – On November 12, 2009, Chaffetz Lindsey partner Peter Chaffetz will speak during the first General Session of ARIAS US’s 2009 Fall Conference. Peter and his co-panelists, Peter Gentile (arbitrator), Kathryn Ellsworth (Grais & Ellsworth), and David Thirkill (The Thirkill Group, Inc.), will speak on issues that can arise in arbitration in light of the current economic climate. The panel will cover questions concerning extra-contractual security, whether a party’s financial condition should be considered in setting the scope of discovery or hearing, and other topics relevant in today’s economy.

Chaffetz Lindsey partner James Hosking co-edited the first comprehensive symposium on the protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs) through bilateral investment treaties and other international investment agreements (IIAs). Published on the Transnational Dispute Management website, the special edition, with contributions from a dozen leading practitioners and academics, delves into the complex – at times tense – political and legal interplay between IPRs and IIAs and provides much needed guidance in an area where many issues remain untested.
