July 2026 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s Agustina Alfaro was a featured panelist at the third edition of the Legal Talks series, hosted by the Washington, D.C. Chapter of CEIA, on July 15, 2026. Agustina joined the panel “Red Flags and Standard of Proof – Corruption in International Disputes”. This session was conducted in Spanish.

The panel discussion covered corruption in international disputes from multiple perspectives — including multilateral institutions, criminal investigations, and international arbitration — for a practical and interactive conversation on legal standards, the collection and use of evidence, and the management of investigations and proceedings parallel to arbitration.

Agustina was joined by panelists Juan Ronderos (IDB) and Dawn Yamane Hewett (Quinn Emanuel), with Rainbow Willard (Sánchez Thomas) moderating.

Gretta Walters Spoke at IBA Arbitration Committee Webinar on Arbitral Award Enforcement Issues

July 2026 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s Gretta Walters spoke on a panel for a webinar series hosted by the IBA Arbitration Committee (Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards Subcommittee), supported by the IBA Asset Recovery Committee, on “Emerging Developments in the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.” Gretta’s panel, “Episode 2: Recognition and Enforcement of Annulled Awards: A Comparative Approach Across Jurisdictions and Strategic Considerations,” took place on July 13, 2026.

The session examined emerging trends in the recognition and enforcement of awards annulled at the seat of arbitration. The panel covered:

  • The legal framework for recognition and enforcement of annulled awards
  • Different approaches in the treatment of annulled awards (full deference, no deference, and intermediate approach)
  • Case law analysis from key jurisdictions
  • Practical strategies for enforcing annulled awards

Gretta was joined by fellow panelists Rufus Abeln (Lemstra Van der Korst), Benoit Mauron (LALIVE), and Florencia Villaggi (Burford Capital). The session was moderated by Sophie Goldman (Hanotiau Tossens Goldman).

This webinar was the second installment of a four-part series on emerging trends in the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. Episode 1, on corruption allegations at the enforcement and set-aside stages, was held on June 18, 2026.  The four-part series is coordinated by the Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards Subcommittee, which is co-chaired by Emilio Bettoni (ArbLit) and Okar Demirkan (Kolcuoglu Demirkan Kocakli).

Agustina Alfaro to Speak on Universidad Austral/C.E.M.A Panel

July 2026 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s Agustina Alfaro will speak on the panel “Conflict Resolution Clauses in Commercial Contracts in Sports and Entertainment” hosted by Centro Empresarial De Mediación y Arbitraje (C.E.M.A) and Universidad Austral on Wednesday, July 8th. The discussion will take place at Universidad Austral, Cerrito 1250, C.A.B.A. at 11:00am. The program will be conducted in Spanish.

The panel will discuss sports arbitration and dispute resolution clauses in sports and entertainment contracts.

June 2026– Chaffetz Lindsey’s May Khoury will speak on a panel at the 38th Annual ITA Workshop and Annual Meeting, taking place June 10–12, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Widely recognized as one of the leading international arbitration conferences in the United States, this year’s Workshop is organized around the theme, “The Fragile Foundations of International Arbitration: Consent Contested, Capacity Questioned, Legitimacy at Stake.”

May will join a distinguished panel for the session, “Authority and Consent: Navigating Corporate Commitment to Arbitration Across Legal Traditions,” on Wednesday, June 10. The discussion will examine how civil law and common law jurisdictions approach the authority of individuals to bind corporations to arbitration agreements, and how differing legal standards, formalities, and judicial interpretations affect arbitral jurisdiction, the recognition of arbitration agreements, and the enforcement of awards.

The panel will explore practical issues that frequently arise in cross-border disputes involving corporate entities, affiliates, agents, and third-party beneficiaries, where questions of authority and consent are often contested. Drawing on comparative perspectives from multiple jurisdictions, the speakers will consider how national laws governing agency, representation, and corporate authority shape the validity and enforceability of arbitration agreements.

Peter Chaffetz to Speak on Sovereign Enforcement Panel at FIRE International Vilamoura 2026

May 2026– Chaffetz Lindsey’s Peter Chaffetz will speak at the upcoming FIRE International Vilamoura 2026 as part of the panel discussion, “Enforcement Against Sovereigns and States,” on Wednesday, May 20th.

The session will bring together leading international practitioners to examine some of the most pressing and complex issues in sovereign enforcement, including the recovery of debts owed by states, the tension between sovereign immunity and victims’ rights, enforcement strategies involving sovereign wealth funds, and efforts to trace and recover assets allegedly looted by political elites and concealed through sovereign structures. Agustina Alfaro to Speak at the 2026 International Arbitration Conference

May 2026 — Chaffetz Lindsey’s Agustina Alfaro will speak at the 2026 International Arbitration Conference hosted by Columbia Law School, the University of Buenos Aires Faculty of Law, and the New York City Bar Association on May 14-15 in New York City. The two-day program will bring together academics, arbitrators, in-house counsel, and practitioners to examine current issues in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution across strategic sectors including energy, infrastructure, logistics, and the digital economy.

On May 14, Agustina will participate in the panel “Dispute-Ready” Contracts in Strategic Sectors which will examine how complex contracts in the energy sector can be structured to anticipate and manage disputes effectively. Gretta Walters to Speak on Panel at NYU School of Law on New York Convention

April 2026 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s Gretta Walters will participate in a panel discussion, “The New York Convention: Modern Perspectives on Global Enforcement,” on April 20 at NYU School of Law.

Organized by the NYU Latin American Arbitration Society (LAAS) in collaboration with the NYU School of Law Intesa Sanpaolo Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law, the event will examine contemporary issues in the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards under the New York Convention.

Bringing together leading academics, practitioners, and judicial figures, the panel will explore evolving interpretations of the Convention and the challenges facing global enforcement in today’s legal landscape.

Gretta, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at NYU, will be joined by speakers Franco Ferrari (NYU School of Law), James Berger (DLA Piper), Fabienne Schaller (former judge in the International Commercial Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal), Daniel Schimmel (Foley Hoag), and Alec Albright (White & Case).

March 2026 – Chaffetz Lindsey’s Yasmine Lahlou will participate in the panel “From Appointment to Award: Navigating Expedited Arbitration” on March 26th, as part of Paris Arbitration Week (PAW) 2026.

The session, organized by the Rising Arbitrators Initiative (RAI), will examine how expedited proceedings are reshaping the tempo of arbitration. Gretta Walters to Speak at 21st Annual ICDR Y&I Coffee House Debate

March 2026 — Chaffetz Lindsey’s Gretta Walters will speak at the 21st Annual ICDR Young & International (Y&I) Coffee House Debate on March 29th in Vienna, Austria, held in connection with the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.  The firm is also a co-sponsor of the event.

A longstanding highlight of Vis Moot week, the ICDR Y&I Coffee House Debate convenes leading arbitration practitioners for a lively and thought-provoking exchange on issues drawn from the current Vis Moot problem. Now in its 21st year, the program continues to provide a forum for meaningful dialogue among practitioners, students, and academics from across the global arbitration community.

Gretta will join a distinguished panel of speakers, including Stephanie Rohmann (Baker McKenzie), Marcus Granlund (Mannheimer Swartling), Maria Teder (Ellex), Anne Wang (Fountain Court Chambers), and Giorgio Sassine (MusickPeeler).
