A “fantastic attorney.” (Who’s Who Legal). A “great litigator.” (Chambers USA).
Charlie Scibetta is Chaffetz Lindsey’s managing partner, a founding partner, and a leader of the firm’s insurance disputes and general commercial litigation and arbitration practices. Chambers USA ranks Charlie Band 1 in New York for insurer-side insurance disputes and has described him as “a great litigator.”
Before founding Chaffetz Lindsey in 2009, Charlie was a litigation and arbitration partner in the New York office of Clifford Chance.
For more than 30 years, Charlie has represented sophisticated businesses in high-stakes commercial litigation and arbitration. His clients have included insurers, reinsurers, banks, hedge funds, REITs, pharmaceutical companies, and media companies in complex contract and business tort disputes.
Charlie has particular expertise in insurance and reinsurance disputes, handling high-severity claims across business lines. His experience includes nine-figure arbitrations involving business interruption and products liability coverage, as well as complex, multi-party litigation and arbitration involving toxic tort, environmental, and other exposures. He has extensive experience with the Bermuda Form and similar policies governed by New York law and arbitrated outside the United States.
Charlie also has substantial experience representing clients in disputes arising from financial crises, corporate failures, and major catastrophes, including September 11, Enron, Lehman Brothers, Madoff, and the subprime mortgage crisis. These matters have involved complex agency relationships, securities disputes, valuations, collateral, fraud, rescission, and other commercial issues.
