James Hosking, Caline Mouawad & David Blackman to Speak at the 16th Annual Investment Treaty Arbitration JURIS Conference
October 2022— Chaffetz Lindsey’s James Hosking, Caline Mouawad and David Blackman will be speaking at the upcoming 16th Annual Investment Treaty Arbitration conference on Friday, October 14th, 2022. The four panel event – being held in Washington, DC — will host leading arbitration practitioners and scholars from around the globe to discuss international investment law and arbitration.
Each panel will feature a topic question and two authors whose writings have taken opposing views. A moderated panel will engage in a discussion of the topic question and the writings of the authors. We are pleased to have three Chaffetz Lindsey attorneys featured on the panels:
- The first panel of the day “The Only Valid Basis for Treaty Claims Involving Judicial Action or Inaction is the CIL theory of Denial of Justice; True or False?” will feature both James Hosking and Caline Mouawad as panelists alongside authors Cesar Riviere (Skadden) and Myriam Seers (Savoie Laporte) and co-panelists Michael A. Fernandez (Rivero Mestre) and Camilla Gambarini (Withers). Nicole Silver (Validity Finance) will moderate.
- David Blackman will sit as an author on the panel “The State Enterprise as Investor: A Special Threat Requiring Special Rules or Not?” David will speak on the opposing side with co-author Jack Busby (Allen & Overy) amongst panelists José Antonio Rivas (Xtrategy), Charles Kotuby (Pitt Law), Mahnaz Malik (20 Essex), Kirsten Teo (Dechert). Teddy Baldwin (Steptoe) will moderate.
