Gretta Walters Appointed to the CPR Institute’s Y-ADR Steering Committee

July 2019 – Gretta Walters was recently selected to serve on The International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution’s (CPR) Young Attorneys in Alternative Dispute Resolution (Y-ADR) Steering Committee. Gretta is one of 15 new members selected through a competitive process to serve a two-year term on the committee.

The Steering Committee is composed of young in-house counsel and practitioners at leading corporations and law firms around the world. The committee serves as the leadership group for Y-ADR, which promotes a full spectrum of dispute resolution mechanisms with lawyers 45 years old or younger or those with less than eight years of professional experience in international ADR practice, through periodic seminars and other initiatives. Legal 500 USA Recognizes Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration and Insurance Practices

June 2019 – Legal 500 recently published their 2019 USA rankings, and Chaffetz Lindsey continues to rank highly in International Arbitration and Insurance (advice to insurers). Several of the firm’s lawyers from these practice areas were individually highlighted as well, including David Lindsey, James Hosking, and Yasmine Lahlou for International Arbitration, and Peter Chaffetz, Steven Schwartz, and Andrew Poplinger for Insurance.

Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice ranked in Tier 3. David Lindsey and James Hosking were listed as “Leading Lawyers” and Yasmine Lahlou is listed as a “Next Generation Lawyer. Aníbal Sabater Featured Amongst Successful Spanish Professionals Living in New York in Expansión

Aníbal is one of twenty-two business professionals recognized for their success.

Gretta Walters Wins the ICAL Alumni Association’s 2019 Outstanding Alumna Award

May 2019 – Gretta Walters recently received the 2019 Outstanding International Commercial Arbitration Law (ICAL) Alumna Award from her LL.M. program at Stockholm University. The ICAL Alumni Association recognized Gretta for “her achievements in the field of arbitration, including the advancement of research in the field through academic publications on different subjects – the latest dealing with the Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and Judgements in New York.” Gretta is a dedicated alumna, participating as a student coach of the Vis International Commercial Arbitration moot court team, and later serving as a guest lecturer. She also speaks at ICAL seminars and conferences in the US and abroad.

The ICAL Alumni Association is a network of former members of the International Commercial Arbitration Law (“ICAL”) Masters Programme at Stockholm University. Each year, the Outstanding Alumnus Award is presented to one ICAL alumnus who is dedicated to professional and scholarly excellence that serves as inspiration to the ICAL community.

Jesús Saracho Appointed as ICC YAF Regional Representative

March 2019 – Foreign Associate Jesús Saracho (visiting from Uría Menéndez) was appointed as an International Chambers of Commerce’s Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) Regional Representative. The Representatives will work under the guidance of their Regional Directors and the Global Coordinating Committee to ensure that each of the six Regional Chapters—in which the ICC YAF is divided—achieves its goals:

Africa, Middle East, and Turkey.
North Asia.
South Asia.
Europe and Russia.
Latin America.
North America.

Jesús will serve the Europe and Russia Chapter.

ICC is the world’s largest business organization, representing more than 45 million companies in over 100 countries. Chaffetz Lindsey International Arbitration Team Cracks Chambers Global 2019 Rankings

February 2019 – Chambers & Partners has released its 2019 Global Guide and recognized Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice. The firm’s International Arbitration practice has consistently been ranked in Chambers USA and Latin America, but this marks the first time Chaffetz Lindsey as a firm has been listed in the global rankings.  David Lindsey and Aníbal Sabater continue to be individually ranked as well.

Chambers Global states the firm “earns recognition for its deep expertise in cross-border arbitration disputes” and is “well regarded for its excellent experience in investment treaty and commercial arbitration.” The publication also highlights the firm’s “notable expertise concerning disputes arising in the energy, construction and insurance sectors” and “has additional capabilities concerning disputes involving European and Asian jurisdictions.”

Clients tell Chambers they recommend the firm for its ”practical, business-minded advice,” remarking: “The lawyers are extremely responsive…the level of client service is exceptional” and “the firm’s cross-border capabilities and co-ordination are excellent.” Another source said “They are smart, fast and proactive,” whilst “being very calm and giving a lot of confidence to the client.”

Who’s Who Legal 2019 Names Chaffetz Lindsey a “Leading Firm” Among Other Honors

December 2018 – In the Who’s Who Legal 2019 Arbitration survey, WWL recognizes Chaffetz Lindsey as one of North America’s “Leading Firms” and a “world-renowned dispute resolution firm.” The Arbitration survey features the world’s leading arbitration lawyers who come highly recommended for their expertise in resolving complex international disputes.

WWL specifically called out James Hosking for being “widely endorsed as ‘a first-rate advocate’ who enjoys an excellent reputation as ‘a knowledgeable and strategic thinker’ who is highly experienced in commercial cases and investment disputes.” Likewise, David Lindsey is celebrated as “a go-to representative to major clients in complex commercial disputes” for whom “sources have a lot of respect.”  Partners Peter Chaffetz, Aníbal Martín Sabater, and Yasmine Lahlou are also listed as featured experts in the WWL Arbitration category.

Also hot off of the WWL press, Yasmine Lahlou has been named Number One on the Who’s Who Legal 2019: Future Leaders – Arbitration Americas list for the second year in a row.  Based on feedback from international general counsel and attorneys, the publication highlights Yasmine as “a sharp and witty arbitration practitioner” who stands out among peers for her “extremely well-prepared and thorough work.” She is further recommended as “an excellent legal analyst.” Yasmine was also ranked on the inaugural list in 2016.

Chaffetz Lindsey Tops Latinvex 2019 Rankings

December 2018 – Latinvex released its 2019 rankings of Top Law Firms in Latin America. The rankings cover firms throughout the world with a Latin America-related practice. Out of all law firms globally, Chaffetz Lindsey was ranked eighth in the “Top Arbitration Firms” category—up two spots from the previous ranking.

In addition, Chaffetz Lindsey partners David Lindsey and Yasmine Lahlou received individual recognition. David was named to the publication’s “Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers” list and Yasmine was named as one of “Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers.”

Fordham Law School Appoints Cia Moss Co-chair of Small to Midsize Law Firm Leaders Dean’s Advisory Council

November 2018 – Fordham Law School hosted a meeting of its Small to Midsize Law Firm Leaders Dean’s Advisory Council on November 12th. Chaffetz Lindsey Partner Cia Moss and Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch Partner Bill Dahill were introduced as co-chairs of the Council. The group, composed of alumni in leadership roles at small to midsize law firms, discusses current issues related to Fordham Law School, and ways to engage Law School alumni at small to midsize firms.

Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration Team Recognized by Legal 500 Latin America 2019

September 2018 – Legal 500 Latin America has released the 2019 edition, and Chaffetz Lindsey’s International Arbitration practice continues to be top-ranked in the region.
