The third edition of the conference presented by the Arbitration Channel, Columbia Law School and NYU Law will focus on the U.S. and Brazilian perspectives on the future of international arbitration.

Agustina Alfaro to Moderate Columbia Law School Panel Wednesday, November 13th

November 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s Agustina Alfaro will moderate the panel “International Perspectives on the Arbitrator’s Duty of Disclosure: Global Insights and Legal Nuances” at Colombia Law School on Wednesday, November 13th.

October 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s Matilde Flores will moderate a panel at the upcoming 2024 Colombia Arbitration Week event taking place October 29th to November 1st.

Matilde will moderate the evening panel “The Post-Award Reality: Recognition and Enforcement Proceedings” on Wednesday, October 30th. Panelists include Viren Mascarenhas (Milbank), Ari MacKinnon (Cleary Gottlieb), Meriam Nazih (Eversheds) and Diego Durán de la Vega (Hughes Hubbard Reed).

October 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s James Hosking and Gretta Walters will participate in “America at the Crossroads: Wie könnte die US-Wahl 2024 transatlantische Wirtschaftsstreitigkeiten beeinflussen?” (“America at the Crossroads: How could the 2024 U.S. election influence transatlantic economic disputes?”) on October 29th in Hamburg, Germany.

James and Gretta will elaborate how the U.S. election could affect disputes concerning trade, shipping, supply chains, energy, environment, banking and finance. The discussion will be moderated by Richard Happ (Luther).

Aníbal Sabater and Silvia Marroquin to attend 68th Congress of the UIA in Paris

October 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s Aníbal Sabater and Silvia Marroquin are set to attend the 68th Congress of the UIA in Paris from October 30th to November 3rd.

As part of their involvement in the Commission on the Future of the Lawyer, Aníbal and Silvia will be organizing the session “Challenges Facing the Legal Profession” to take place on November 2nd. The session will discuss the most pressing challenges faced by the legal profession across geographic regions and fields of practice (e.g., political interference, disregard of the rule of law, economic trends, technological competence), as well as trends and best practices to address those challenges.  Aníbal is President of the Commission on the Future of the Lawyer and Silvia serves as the secretary of the commission.
