International Litigation: Inbound Cross-Border Discovery Review in the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section Newsletter

June 2022— Chaffetz Lindsey’s Lidia Rezende, Roundtable Chair and Young ITA North America Chair, will be a featured speaker at the Institute of Transnational Arbitration (ITA) Annual Workshop – The Hearing.  The conference will be held on June 15-16, 2022 in Austin, Texas.

Lidia will address “Interim Measure Practices in Commercial Arbitration Around the World,” at the Young ITA Roundtable.

“This is a not-to-be-missed workshop for anyone with an interest in international arbitration,” said David Winn (Director, The Institute for Transnational Arbitration of the Center for American and International Law). “It is considered the best U.S. conference to interact directly with leading arbitrators, practitioners, and academics from around the world.”

In this year’s program, the ITA will offer a mini-master class on the arbitral hearing, presented by some of the very best advocates in the field.  This educational conference will draw participants from around the world and attendees can obtain legal education (CLE) credits.

Attendees can expect:

• A presentation on “The Nuremberg Trial, Then and Now” by Philippe Sands QC (University College, London), the next in a series of activities this year in honor of the 75th anniversary of The Center for American and International Law;
• Twin keynote addresses by Toby Landau QC (Duxton Hill Chambers, Singapore) and Isabelle Michou (Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Paris) presenting common law and civil law perspectives on “Witness Evidence and the Overall Purpose of a Hearing;”
• An oral history interview with Prof. George A. Bermann (Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law and Walter Gellhorn Professor, Columbia Law School, New York) by Prof. Andrea Bjorklund (L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law, McGill University Faculty of Law, Montreal);
• Young Lawyers Roundtable including a Young ITA Regional Chairs tour of the arbitration world and a review of interim measures;
• An exceptional international faculty carefully selected for this mini-master class; and
• Multiple networking and social events, including a special Hill Country Adventure.

ITA members also can participate in ITA Annual Meeting activities including the Advisory Board Dinner (ticketed event), committee meetings and the ITA Forum (an informal, off-the-record discussion of current developments and concerns in international arbitration among ITA members, Workshop Faculty, and special guests).
