New York City Bar Publishes Model Extradition Treaty Co-Authored by Aníbal Sabater

March 2017 – Aníbal Sabater, Chaffetz Lindsey partner and an international arbitration specialist with over 18 years of experience, chaired the subcommittee which drafted the recently released “Model Extradition Treaty.”  Published by the International Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, the model treaty was drafted with the aim to facilitate negotiation and consistency among future U.S. extradition treaties.  It also focuses on legal issues, such as: what an extradition treaty should say (or not say) to be clear, enforceable and easy to apply and what clauses a modern international treaty should contain to ensure that the treaty keeps with U.S. legal tradition and also reflects solid international legal practices and solutions.

Aníbal was joined on the drafting subcommittee by Diego Guevara of Walsh Guevara, Jennifer Lim of Debevoise & Plimpton, and Claudio Salas of WilmerHale.  Caline Mouawad of King & Spalding is the chair of the committee.
