Aníbal Sabater and Silvia Marroquin to attend 68th Congress of the UIA in Paris
October 2024—Chaffetz Lindsey’s Aníbal Sabater and Silvia Marroquin are set to attend the 68th Congress of the UIA in Paris from October 30th to November 3rd.
As part of their involvement in the Commission on the Future of the Lawyer, Aníbal and Silvia will be organizing the session “Challenges Facing the Legal Profession” to take place on November 2nd. The session will discuss the most pressing challenges faced by the legal profession across geographic regions and fields of practice (e.g., political interference, disregard of the rule of law, economic trends, technological competence), as well as trends and best practices to address those challenges. Aníbal is President of the Commission on the Future of the Lawyer and Silvia serves as the secretary of the commission.
The panel will gather a multilingual group of esteemed practitioners from around the world and across legal sectors: Singh Avnider, counsel at Cicero Chambers (India), François Girault, partner at Réseau AGN Avocats (France), Yoshihisa Hayakawa, partner at Uryu & Itoga (Japan), Daniela Horvitz, partner at Horvitz y Compañía Abogados (Chile), Pierre-Louis Jameson, Lexumerique (Haiti), Urquiola de Palacio, Immediate Past President of the UIA and partner at Palacio & Asociados (Spain), Bertrand Nzouango, partner at Cabinet d’Avocats Nzouango (Cameroon), and Joseph Yav Katshung, managing partner at Yav & Associates (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Earlier in the week, the commission will also be organizing a joint session on October 31st with the In-House Counsel Commission and the Management of Law Firms Commission on the topic of “Becoming a business partner as an in-house counsel and as an outside counsel: differences, opportunities and challenges.”
